The Tobyhanna Athletic Association is
a 501(c)(3) non profit organization located in Tobyhanna on Route 611
behind the Municipal Building.. We are chartered annually by
Little League Baseball
International and conduct the league in
accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by Little League
Baseball Incorporated. We are part of Section 6 in District 29 of the
Pennsylvania Little League.
Our mailing address is:
Tobyhanna Athletic Association PO Box 276 Tobyhanna, PA 18466
We offer baseball
and softball opportunities for children living in Coolbaugh Township between the
ages of 5 - 16 years of age. Our divisions range from Tee Ball, ages 5-6
through Senior ages 15-16. The organization is run by volunteers
from our coaches and managers to the
Board of
Directors. We welcome new volunteers to assist in the
different functions of the league, for example, fundraising,
registration, coaching, umpiring, etc. If you are interested, please
contact
Erin Masker
for details.
Our Board
of Directors meet monthly on the first Sunday at 6pm. The meetings are
open to all, and we encourage participation from anyone who may be
interested in the betterment of the league. If you have an issue to
discuss with the board, this is the proper forum to be heard.
In recent years,
we have been offering only baseball opportunities. We hope that this
will change and encourage more female participation for the upcoming
season. Presently, our female players have been placed on baseball
teams.

The
season usually runs from late April through June. July and August are
set aside for tournament play whereas our all-stars compete against
other teams within our district in an elimination competition.
During the regular season,
games may be played any day of the week during the evening Monday-Friday
and both day and evenings games on weekends. Practices are
scheduled by the manager and are scheduled around games in order to be
able to use the fields.
During
the off season, our Board of Directors plan for the next season by
preparing all the required documents for Little League Baseball,
Incorporated, formulating our operating budget, evaluating existing and
purchasing new equipment, trying to raise funds through
sponsorships and donations from businesses
and individuals, and performing all of the other tasks that are
necessary to run the league during the regular season. This
requires the full cooperation and efforts of the entire Board of
Directors as well as other volunteers who are willing to contribute to
the overall success of the league. If anyone is interested in
lending a hand feel free to contact us.
The success of our association is
based on the support of the community both financially and
through volunteerism. All parents are encouraged to volunteer
and any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
We are always looking for help with fund-raising, opening day,
umpiring, concession or banquet, these are a few of the areas
that are in need of volunteers. Joining a committee is as
simple as placing your name on the sign up sheet at
registrations, or by sending an email stating that you are
interested in volunteering and your area of interest.
We are hoping to have a season that is fun and safe. The safety of children in our league is our number one priority.
Our job is to ensure their safety. and provide them with a positive and great learning experience.
We have been working with the Coolbaugh Township Board of Supervisors and the Parks and Recreation Committees, and they have been very receptive to
our concerns for the league and the goals we have set for the 2008 season.
We are grateful for
their positive outlook for our organization and their support.
We would also like to encourage your attendance at our monthly meetings. These meetings are held on the
first Sunday of every month at 6:00pm, unless there is a holiday. The meetings are held at the Tobyhanna Athletic
Association Equipment Room located behind the Coolbaugh Township Library. These meetings are open to the public, and we welcome any suggestions you may
have. You can always check this website for updates on meetings and find important forms that are downloadable.
The site will also include game schedules, coach contact information, meeting minutes, important dates to remember and other important
information. New for 2008 is our on-line registration. This is very
secure, user friendly and easy to
access.
We are always trying to make improvements to our league and the way that it is being administered . As stated previously,
our success is based on volunteer participation. Please participate and show your support for the association and
help us make this a great season for our children.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the games and working with everyone as volunteers. Thank you so much for your time
and allowing us to help your child have a fun and safe 2008 baseball season.
The purpose of this website
is to keep our membership informed by sharing information both on and
